What are Mother Daughter Carts?

Mother-daughter carts are material handling carts comprising of at least two carts, a “mother” cart, and a “daughter” cart. The mother cart is a larger cart towed by a warehouse tugger that serves as the base or foundation, while the daughter cart is a smaller cart that fits into the mother cart. The daughter cart can be easily removed from the mother cart and used to transport smaller loads.

How does the Tugger Train system work?

This industrial cart system uses a “line side” approach. The mother cart is loaded with the required materials and transported to the assembly line. Each daughter cart is filled with parts so that it can be easily removed from the mother cart and transported to the line side in a milk run system. Once the full daughter cart is removed, an empty daughter cart can be returned to the mother cart for the next stop in the tugger train.
