Elijah Nutting founded his company in 1891 after designing a tilt-style platform truck to fulfill the material handling needs of a fellow Minnesota businessman. Over 125 years later, Nutting’s company is still in motion and is a leader in high-quality custom-engineered material handling solutions.
In 1984, the original Nutting business moved from Minnesota to South Dakota. The operation continues to be housed in Watertown, in the far eastern region of the state.
While Pennsylvania-based Acco is the legal company name of the material handling company, the Nutting brand is still used on the material handling products.
KKR purchases The Crosby Group and Acco Material Handling Solutions in late 2013. Both companies specialize in the design, manufacture and marketing of accessories used in lifting and rigging. Acco officially becomes part of The Crosby Group.
The Crosby Group and Kito Corporation combine to become a global leading lifting, securement, and material handling manufacturer.
CMCO acquires Kito Crosby in February 2026, bringing the Nutting brand into a broader family of leading global lifting, material handling, and conveyance brands.
